Periodontology
(Treatment of gum diseases)

Periodontology; It is a science that treats the disorders that occur in the free gingiva, attached gingiva, periodontal fibers and oral mucosa, which we call periodontal tissues. Many people suffer from gum loss over time. Gums are also disturbed due to bone resorption around the teeth. Periodontology tries to regain the lost gums with various operations.

Is tartar cleaning harmful?
The majority of tooth loss in adults is caused by the gums and the bone surrounding the teeth. Gum diseases are caused by bacteria called plaque, which adheres to the surface of the teeth and gums in the thickness of the film layer. If the plaque is not cleaned, it turns into tartar (calculus). The accumulation of plaque and dental calculus allows the proliferation of destructive bacteria in our mouth, and as a result, gaps called pockets and gingival recessions occur between the teeth and gums. Bacteria secrete enzymes that cause bone destruction around the tooth. Eventually, the tooth is lost. Teeth cleaning is the basis of the fight against gum diseases. Because in order to cope with gingival diseases, plaque, tartar and bacteria in the gingival pocket must be removed from the oral environment. These harmful formations are removed as a result of interventions with ultrasonic devices or suitable hand tools. These tools do not harm the tooth enamel at all. Because they are professional instruments used by dentists. Air, water and a sprayed special cleaning powder are also used while cleaning the tartar. The first purpose of dental cleaning is to remove plaque, tartar and some diseased tissues from the oral environment. Considering that oral health is a part of general body health, do not neglect the care of your gums and have your teeth cleaned if necessary.

Dental Treatment
Loss, discoloration and distortions caused by tooth decay or trauma are restored with aesthetic fillings. The purpose of dental treatment is to clean dental caries and to fill the formed cavity (cavity) with an artificial filling material. Today, dental caries is defined as a disease that occurs in dental tissues due to more than one reason.

Factors of Dental Caries
Bacterial plaque
Carbohydrate foods (Sugar, flour, etc.)
Intrinsic factors (Tooth structure, composition of saliva, etc.)
Time (The duration of food in the mouth)
Bacterial plaque formed by bacteria in the mouth can form acid from the residues of sugary and floury foods in the mouth. These acids dissolve the mineral tissue of the tooth and destroy the enamel of the tooth, causing a formation of cavities on the teeth.

Diagnostic Methods
Dental caries can occur on the chewing surface of the teeth, the interfaces of the teeth, or the neck of the teeth. Browning or cavities on visible surfaces are easy to detect. However, x-ray diagnosis may be required in caries that have not produced these symptoms. If the decay that starts in the enamel tissue of the tooth is not treated, it progresses to the dentin tissue. Dentin is a structure that dissolves more easily than enamel and therefore caries progression is faster. A patient with a caries that has reached the dentin tissue may have hot, cold, sour, sweet sensitivity resulting from a factor. This pain goes away on its own when the cause is removed. If the pain has become continuous, it has progressed to the pulp layer where the vascular-nerve package of the carious tooth is collected and makes us think that root canal treatment is necessary.

Composite Filler
is a plastic mixture containing silicon dioxide particles. It is not noticeable on the tooth with various color options and is also called aesthetic / white filling. The material, which was used only in the anterior teeth for a period, was strengthened by various methods and made suitable for the posterior teeth as well. The filling material placed on the tooth using a special bonding agent is hardened with a light device and polished.

Porcelain Filling
Impressions are taken from the cavity prepared in porcelain fillings and sent to the laboratory. When the patient comes to the next session, the polished porcelain filling is adhered to the cavity.

Amalgam Filling
Silver is obtained by mixing tin and copper alloy with 45-50 percent mercury. After the cavity cleaned from caries is filled with amalgam filling material, it is recommended not to use that area for two hours and not to chew anything hard for 24 hours. After 24 hours, the hardened filling is polished
