Wisdom tooth surgery
The reason why impacted wisdom teeth are a problem is that this tooth is not needed genetically and our jaws are getting smaller and smaller. As our jaws get smaller, wisdom teeth are forced to find a place for themselves and therefore cannot come out like other teeth.
The wisdom teeth, which cannot find a place for themselves, push the front tooth and press, which causes crowding. In addition, they can easily become inflamed because they are too far behind and the gingiva around them are not in the normal anatomical structure
Fully impacted wisdom teeth
Usually do not cause problems. But they need to be followed up with x-rays. Although they are fully embedded, they can press on the roots of the anterior tooth.
Partially erupted wisdom teeth
Are the ones that cause the most problems. Since they cannot come out completely, they try to come out by putting pressure on the front tooth. The piece of gum on them becomes inflamed over time due to the escape of food residues and bacterial growth.
As a result of inflammation of the gum around the tooth; pain, swelling, abscess occurs. They create a suitable environment for caries.
Treatment for 20-year-old tooth’s Inflammation
First of all, the acute inflammation should be chronicized with antibiotic treatment. The inflammation found here only becomes chronic with the use of antibiotics. It cannot be completely cleaned. For this reason, tooth extraction should not be abandoned after the use of antibiotics, deceiving the disappearance of the complaints. Then, these teeth should be extracted with a surgical procedure.
The healing process begins immediately after the surgery. A simple post-operative dressing helps to stop the bleeding and helps the surgical site to heal by clotting. In one or two days, the surgical site will be closed with soft tissue.
Teeth Clenching (Grinding) Bruxism
Bruxism (teeth grinding) is the clenching of the jaws and grinding of the teeth, usually caused by strong jaw movements that occur during sleep. It is common in our society. Often individuals with this habit are unaware of it.
Treatments
The aim of the treatment is to prevent permanent damage to the teeth and jaw joint and to eliminate the pain. “Night guards”, which are applied by the dentist and used between the lower and upper jaw teeth to prevent the teeth from coming into contact with each other during sleep, are the most important tools used in the symptomatic treatment of teeth grinding. However, night guards are often not enough on their own. For this reason, according to the picture of the disease, the following additional treatments should be applied in addition to night guards:
-Stress therapy,
-Measures to ensure comfortable sleep,
-Application of muscle relaxants,
-Renewal of incorrectly made dental fillings and veneers,
-Prosthesis applications to replace missing teeth
